1917: Model TT
The Ford F-150 can trace its lineage back to the Model TT truck, which launched in July of 1917. The debut of the Model TT came nine years after the legendary Model T. The Model TT used the same engine and the same cab as the Model T, but it featured a sturdier frame and a pickup bed to allow it to carry payloads weighing up to a ton. They went for $600 apiece, and Ford was able to sell 2,019 of them the first year.
